Small Home miners
Smaller miners that still pack a punch!
Bitaxe Gamma 601
Review
The Bitaxe Gamma 601 delivers a compelling entry point into DIY or solo Bitcoin mining, especially for hobbyists or those experimenting with low-power rigs. Built around the BM1370 ASIC chip (the same chip used in the Antminer S21 Pro), the miner achieves a hash rate around 1.0–1.2 TH/s while drawing only about 15–20 W — an impressive efficiency that keeps electricity costs low. Out of the box, the Gamma 601 is lightweight, compact, and simple to deploy: it includes a power supply and stand, connects via built-in WiFi, and runs on open-source AxeOS firmware — giving users transparent, community-driven control. Bitaxe+2AsicArmour+2
For home use, its modest noise and power draw make it suitable even in shared spaces, and its small footprint makes it easy to tuck onto a desk or shelf. That said, as a low-hashrate unit, it’s unlikely to yield substantial mining profits on its own — it’s best viewed as a “learning” or experimental rig, or a low-cost way to contribute to decentralised mining without running a large, power-hungry ASIC farm. But there is always a chance at mining a solo Bitcoin block (currently 3.125 BTC) which has been done several times just in the last year.
All told, the Bitaxe Gamma 601 is a competent, energy-efficient, open-source miner — ideal for enthusiasts who prioritise accessibility, customisation, and minimal resource usage over raw mining power.
